A lot of bloggers have been raving about this yogurt store, The White Hat Italian Frozen Yogurt, on plurk and on their blogs so, when Eric Chao invited me to try their yogurt product, I dropped by the store, located at the second floor of SM Mall of Asia, right across Nike store.

It’s a nice, quaint place in the shopping mall with white chairs and small round tables placed outside.  He’s very accommodating and since it’s my first time to be visiting the store, he introduced me to the different toppings that I could put on my yogurt.

Wow!  I like nuts and I like granola!  This is starting to look good…

…and I didn’t mind it one bit.  :)  Or maybe a little.  But I’ll tell you that later…

It must have been 48,000 years since I’ve set foot on Robinson’s Manila.  Last Friday, though, while waiting for some friends whom I’ll be meeting with, I’ve decided to spend the idle time visiting the old Robinson’s Place.  Honestly, it looked now more like tiangge than a shopping mall.  But I’m glad to find that there’s a (relatively) new wing, the Midtown wing.  And I’m glad to have found TOSH (The Old Spaghetti House) there, as I was really hungry at that time, having missed lunch, and I needed my carbo load.

So, yeah, what to have when you’re at TOSH?  Of course, spaghetti!

Sun-dried Tomato Pesto with Grilled Chicken, P155

Ooopppsss, sorry about that color.  I think it looked like pansit palabok in the picture.  Hehe, I think it’s because of the dim yellow lights in the place, which I actually like.  I’ve always ordered this one, as I’m comfortable with the pesto sauce.  Though I eat pasta dishes with cream-based sauces, I still prefer the pesto.  Makes one enjoy the dish while also tasting the noodle itself.  I didn’t like the taste of the grilled chicken, though (at least, this particular grilled chicken).

    My rating:

    Apple-Cinnamon & Cream Fried Spaghetti Cake, P95

This one’s my first time to try out.  I honestly can’t believe that the whole thing is just P95!  I mean, look at it!  It can serve up to 3 people and not one will feel deprived at all.  Also, I’m extra curious at how a fried spaghetti cake looks and tastes like.

Photo of a Ravaged Fried Spaghetti Cake

I think, with the way it tasted like, the whole spaghetti thing was dipped in a pancake butter and then deep fried.  So, it doesn’t really taste of noodles anymore, but more like of pancake.  But I love how the cinnamon and the syrup makes the whole dish so dessert-like!  And, of course, the apples!  Yum, yum!  I felt a little regretful though, that I’ve no one with me at that time to help me finish the dish.  Really, one person just couldn’t.  So make sure, when you order this, you’ve got a companion or two.  Or that you’re really, really hungry.

The cake comes in different flavors: classic with powdered sugar, classic with cream, straberries & cream, caramelized banana & cream, and of course, the apple-cinnamon & cream variety.

    My rating:

I was a bit unhappy though with the service.  Nothing really major.  But it’s kind of annoying when I have to ask for a follow-up of my order thrice, though I’ve to consider that food are cooked only when ordered so perhaps, that’s why it took a while.  But it could have been helpful if I were told why it was taking so long.  I was thinking all the while that the waiter/waitress wasn’t able to place my order and so, I’ve to keep on checking.

But I think I can forgive that.  After all, it’s the Old Spaghetti House!  I wouldn’t stay mad for long at someone (or at a place) that serves good ol’ spaghetti.

A few weeks ago, I came back to Banana Leaf Asian Cafe at SM the Block with my parents, just so that they may be able to try the food there.  Also, I wanted to check out some of the other dishes.  And the good thing is, I didn’t have any more horror side stories, like what I blogged about before.

Because there’s more of us now, I was able to taste more food.  Hehe.

Stir-Fried Malaysian Noble Leaves with Garlic, Php 188

It may look like a mess of weeds but it actually tastes good.  However, non-veggie-eating persons may not really agree with me.  But I love how garlicky it tastes.

    My rating:

Kimchi Fried Rice, Php 168, good for 2-3 persons

I don’t really understand why this should be called Kimchi Fried Rice, nor does it taste anything different from other fried rice that I’ve tasted.  It’s not that bad, but I just didn’t enjoy it that much.

    My rating:

Japanese Eel Fried Rice, Php 168, good for 2-3 persons

I hope one can distinguish this one from the Kimchi fried rice visually.  Well, they seem to really look alike.  But they taste different, trust me.  I like this one better.  But there’s very little of that Japanese eel for me to be able to tell it apart from the other ingredients.
