Swiss Chocolate Cappuccino and regular-sized iced caramel macchiato

And I found the answer just today: Blenz Coffee, which has been in the country since 2008 and its first store opened at SM One Ecom Center in Pasay.

I’ve been seeing this coffee shop for a while, but never got the chance to really visit it until today, when I was going around Megamall, canvassing for some gadgets I want to buy.  And who wouldn’t be attracted by the quiet ambiance, with no noisy clusters of teenagers and only a bunch of coffee lovers enjoying lovely pastries, coffee, and FREE WI-FI (I repeat, FREE WI-FI)?  So I went inside, with a chance for discovering a new tambayan in mind.

And my first sip of  the iced caramel macchiato already convinced me that I’ll be coming back there often.  The slice of Swiss Chocolate cappuccino is delicious too.  Price is comparable to that of Starbucks coffee and Gloria Jeans coffee.  So, if you’re tired of the usual crowd at Starbucks, GJ, Figaro, and Seattle’s Best, then just drop by this place.

Another thing I love about it is that the place is conducive for people who like to surf the internet while sipping their favorite coffee.  There are plenty of power outlets and the internet speed is respectable.

So, my overall rating for the place based on my first visit:

If you’re interested to see the place, it’s located at the 2nd floor of SM Megamall building B.  Be sure to bring your laptop with you :-)

KFC Rice Bowl – Italia Roma

It was my first time to see this rice bowl meal at KFC today when I had my dinner at Shangri-La mall.  It’s the same crispy, breaded KFC chicken that we all love with a unique sauce that tastes like mustard and sour cream and the sweet sauce they used to put on the other rice bowls.  And there are slices of fried eggplant on the side.  I love the dish actually, since there’s more chicken as compared to the previous rice bowls.  Also, the sauce doesn’t taste like another variety of the gravy used for their main chicken dishes.  KFC lovers, you got to try this!

I think many would be glad to know of Italianni’s new offer for this summer: Small Price For a Big Lunch.  I mean, the food is good but it could really be pricey.  But the new offer ensures the same quality good food but at a more affordable price.  And damn, there are five tasty menus to choose from.

    Pesci in Vino Bianco (P295)

This one is for the fish lover!  Pesci in VinoBianco (Fish Fillet in White Wine) is white fish fillet, simmered in white wine and herbs, and served with spaghetti aglio e olio and grilled vegetables on the side.  The one I ate is a Dory fish fillet and gosh, I loved it so much I can’t wait for the next time I’ll be visiting Italianni’s again!  I highly recommend this dish!

    italiannis_pollo-con-rucola

    Pollo con Rucola (P295)

This one’s another favorite!  It is herbed roasted quarter chicken topped with arugula and drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette.  And, of course, it comes spaghetti aglio e olio and grilled vegetables.  It may be a little dry by some other people’s tastes, but I still love it.  It compliments perfectly the pasta, just like the Dory.  Yum, yum!

    italiannis_costina-brasatta

    Costina Brasatta (P350)

This is actually is loin back ribs braised in tomatoes and red wine, flavored with herbs and garlic.  Very tender meat but nothing really new.  Ho-hum.

    My rating:

(actually I was about to give it just 2 spoons, but I added another one for the tenderness of the meat that easily detaches from the bone.  It’s not everyday you’d find something as well cooked as that).

    italiannis_manzo-di-arrosto

    Manzo di Arrosto (P350)

This one’s a slow roasted imported rib eye served with spaghetti aglio e olio and grilled vegetables.  I heard from the chef that they cook this REALLY slow.  As in 8-hours slow.  One can go to work and come home to find a very tender, juicy steak such as this.  Haha.  So, remember that very well as you chew this very tender rib eye steak.  Also, remember that this is served only at Italianni’s Trinoma, High Street and Greenbelt.

    italiannis_spiedo

Spiedo del Pollo e Dei Pesci (P295)

This is pesto marinated chicken and spice-rubbed dory served with spaghetti aglio e olio and grilled vegetables.  It’s kind of a combination of the first two dishes I’ve mentioned in this blog post, but skewered.  I love this one too, but I’d rather have the Dory in white wine sauce.

So if these dishes look yummy to you, then I suggest that you head to the nearest Italianni’s restaurant.  The promo runs from March 9 to May 31 of this year.  So hurry up!  As for me, I’m already planning to visit the resto soon.  :-)
