It’s not everyday that one can really go out and have an ice cream cake. Why? Because there aren’t many stores that have it. There may be a lot of cake specialty shops around, but if one just has to have his slice of ice cream cake for the day, he may have to buy the whole ice cream cake itself, or even have to pre-order it. And whole ice cream cakes do come at a hefty price (just check out Five Cows at TriNoma Mall and see that each round cake can cost you about P1000+).

But, as what they always say, good food doesn’t always have to be expensive. At our little SM Marilao in Bulacan, there’s this store that is called Bake and Churn (which, I think, can be found in all SM stores) and it can very well satisfy a sweet tooth (or two) just when it is needed most.

See, it’s just a quaint little stall below the escalator. But don’t snub this one. It may just be your lifesaver for the day, just like what happened to me few days back when I was craving some Five Cows Black Forest ice cream cake (the nearest Five Cows from my place is the one at TriNoma mall). And saved me a couple of bucks, too. So, my friends and I trooped to Bake & Churn for this little piece of goodness:

That’s a chocolate ice cream cake for you…and only for P30 per slice! If you just can’t get enough, you can buy a whole ice cream cake for only P480-P550. It’s not limited to chocolate flavors, as the store has Black Forest, Cookies and cream, ube, caramel mocha, and strawberry. I’ve already tried caramel mocha, strawberry, and Black Forest and they’re worth every cent. Yum!

And don’t worry about having to take those home and finding that they’ve already melted. Those ice cream cakes can be very well stored in its box at room temperature and hold its form for as long as an hour.

congrats for creating a food blog! The reason I had a food blog was because I noticed I had a lot of food related entries. Thanks for sharing the Bake & Churn Ice Cream cake. An Ice cream cake is never cheap.

Actually, no. A loyal friend commented on a Hello! World post (which I deleted) that comes with the WordPress installation. Hehe. But thanks for visiting! And to think I’ve only posted the link in twitter! :-)

Seems to me food is everybody’s favorite topic too.

Yeah, I’ve also noticed that it’s hard to find ice cream cakes. Even the whole ice cream cakes. Only few stores sell it. I kinda missed it for a long time, and it especially reminds me of some of my birthday dinners when I was young.

Hope you’d come visit me again soon! :-)

Thanks! Well, since I’ve been going out a lot to eat, why not blog about it, right? Hopefully I’ll be able to get good material for posting soon :-)

Yup, ice cream cakes don’t really come cheap. That’s why I’m happy that, at least, there’s a P30/slice out there!

  5. [...] first entry, Bake & Churn’s Affordable Ice Cream Cake, makes me want to head on over to SM and search for that stall. What did it for me? I dunno… [...]

I find that the their Black Forest is better than their Cookies and Cream Cake.

The Black Forest one is much more chunkier and tastier while the Cookies and Cream is a little bland for my taste.

  7. Prudence says:

    to Ixionai:

Maybe because the Cookies and Cream variety tasted more like cream than cookies. Hehe.

lol a number of the reviews many people enter make me laugh, many a time i question whether they in reality read the article and content before writing a comment or whether or not they mearly look at the title of the post and come up with the first thing that comes to mind. in any event, it is relaxing to read smart commentary from time to time in contrast to the same exact, traditional post vomit which i usually notice on the internet i’m off to take up a few rounds of zynga poker have a pleasant day

  21. daisy says:

Hi! I with my friends already tasted it at SM Megamall and it really tastes very good and so delicious.

We actually did that for our feasibility study this semester and we were surprised to know that it’s really affordable especially to those who are ice cream and cake lovers.

We just wanna ask for your permission for us to visit the place where you manufacture this yummy product?!

The information on how to do ice cream cake will purely be FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES ONLY. Please reply on this comment as soon as possible.

And also your response will be our basis to go on with this feasibility study.

    Hope for your cooperation. Thanks=)
