…and I didn’t mind it one bit.  :)  Or maybe a little.  But I’ll tell you that later…

It must have been 48,000 years since I’ve set foot on Robinson’s Manila.  Last Friday, though, while waiting for some friends whom I’ll be meeting with, I’ve decided to spend the idle time visiting the old Robinson’s Place.  Honestly, it looked now more like tiangge than a shopping mall.  But I’m glad to find that there’s a (relatively) new wing, the Midtown wing.  And I’m glad to have found TOSH (The Old Spaghetti House) there, as I was really hungry at that time, having missed lunch, and I needed my carbo load.

So, yeah, what to have when you’re at TOSH?  Of course, spaghetti!

Sun-dried Tomato Pesto with Grilled Chicken, P155

Ooopppsss, sorry about that color.  I think it looked like pansit palabok in the picture.  Hehe, I think it’s because of the dim yellow lights in the place, which I actually like.  I’ve always ordered this one, as I’m comfortable with the pesto sauce.  Though I eat pasta dishes with cream-based sauces, I still prefer the pesto.  Makes one enjoy the dish while also tasting the noodle itself.  I didn’t like the taste of the grilled chicken, though (at least, this particular grilled chicken).

    My rating:

    Apple-Cinnamon & Cream Fried Spaghetti Cake, P95

This one’s my first time to try out.  I honestly can’t believe that the whole thing is just P95!  I mean, look at it!  It can serve up to 3 people and not one will feel deprived at all.  Also, I’m extra curious at how a fried spaghetti cake looks and tastes like.

Photo of a Ravaged Fried Spaghetti Cake

I think, with the way it tasted like, the whole spaghetti thing was dipped in a pancake butter and then deep fried.  So, it doesn’t really taste of noodles anymore, but more like of pancake.  But I love how the cinnamon and the syrup makes the whole dish so dessert-like!  And, of course, the apples!  Yum, yum!  I felt a little regretful though, that I’ve no one with me at that time to help me finish the dish.  Really, one person just couldn’t.  So make sure, when you order this, you’ve got a companion or two.  Or that you’re really, really hungry.

The cake comes in different flavors: classic with powdered sugar, classic with cream, straberries & cream, caramelized banana & cream, and of course, the apple-cinnamon & cream variety.

    My rating:

I was a bit unhappy though with the service.  Nothing really major.  But it’s kind of annoying when I have to ask for a follow-up of my order thrice, though I’ve to consider that food are cooked only when ordered so perhaps, that’s why it took a while.  But it could have been helpful if I were told why it was taking so long.  I was thinking all the while that the waiter/waitress wasn’t able to place my order and so, I’ve to keep on checking.

But I think I can forgive that.  After all, it’s the Old Spaghetti House!  I wouldn’t stay mad for long at someone (or at a place) that serves good ol’ spaghetti.

the fried spag is really known as funnel cake….. its pancake batter made more liquidy…cooked in a large pot of oil where in one swirls the batter in a thin stream to get the effect of noodles….

Nice review. This place is very under-looked by many shoppers looking for a place to eat. This has now become top on my list for when I go out to eat.

The price: Excellent for the amount of food you get
The one thing I liked about this place was that I NEVER had to ask them to fill up my drink. They even filled it after I drank 1/4 of the cup of iced tea. It’s not like the other restos where you have to ask to be refilled.

I tried their ham n cheese chicken w/ hair spaghetti pasta. really good.
I also tried the funnel cake. (This cake is very common in the states during festivals and fairs..known as Fair/Carnival Food). It was good! a bit oily though. I had the funnel cake w/ cream.

The other great thing about this place is..when you’re looking down the menu, there’s so many things you just wanna try. So in your mind, you make a mental note: When i come back again, I wanna try this or that, but today I’ll have this. There’s a HUGE menu which is awesome. After dinner I left the place feeling stuffed! I mean..STUFFED! I had to walk around the mall for a bit to digest the food haha. I love the ambiance too..it doesn’t feel like a restaurant. It’s very cozy. They took time to decorate the place well. Little things like that goes a long way.

Next time I wanna try something that I saw under the Sandwiches section of the menu. Peanut butter and banana and bacon??? haha. it must be good since it’s recommended by the restaurant by having a symbol next to that item on the menu.

    I had a Spaghetti/Chicken meal
    Funnel cake w/cream
    bottomless iced tea
    Damage: More or less P300
