Why a food blog, someone might ask.
I think it would be too obvious to say that I love to eat food, given my size. But it’s not only that. Considering that I grew up in a huge family, who doesn’t only love to eat food, but also loves to cook food. If vices were genetically inherited, food vice could be one that is surely in the family. I think, even during those times that finances weren’t really that stable, to have a taste of good food has always become priority. And when the whole clan would decide to gather, there would always be plenty of mouthwatering favorites, especially the clan favorite, lechon (but I do hate lechon with all my heart, really) and, believe it or not, lugaw and tokwa’t baboy. It is not uncommon to be receiving out-of-the-blue calls or invites from uncles, aunts, and cousins to eat out.
Even with friends, I think there were only very few times that we had any outing, gimmick, or other activities that did not even involve food. There was even this one time that we pledged to have our food trips weekly and to try out all the restaurants in a specific mall in Manila. Even the fastfood-type restaurants.
Those aren’t exactly exotic type of foods. And I’m not exactly the best of cooks. But I believe, with a hundred and one ways that we, Filipinos, like to cook and style our food, be it in imitation of something we see from others or as something that is inherent in our culture, I’m sure every dish can be as unique and as varying as our preferences can be. That, for me, is simply worth blogging about.
And, of course, it may be because I like taking photos with my new toy.
So, go to the posts and make yourselves hungry. Food trip tayo!
